Fears of a fresh housing bubble here in the UK, and potentially unsustainable house price increases in countries such as the US, China and Brazil, make the state of the housing market a key issue for contention. Are buoyant housing markets across the globe sowing the seeds of another financial crisis?

Paul Diggle is an economist at Capital Economics, where he advises banks, hedge funds and asset managers on the state of the residential property market in the US and the UK.
