Annual Dinner

The Marshall Society

The Marshall Society is delighted to announce that the Annual Dinner will be taking place on Tuesday 12th March 2024.

The event will commence at 6pm with a drinks reception and a fireside chat with our Guest of Honour, Mohamed El-Erian. This will be followed by a 4-course black-tie private dinner in Sidney Sussex Hall, which will include wine and a port reception in the Knox Shaw room.

Speaker Information

Mohamed El-Erian is the Chief Economic Advisor at Allianz, the corporate parent of PIMCO where he was previously CEO and co-chief investment officer between 2007–2014. He has served as Chair of President Obama’s Global Development Council (2012–2017) and has served on several boards and committees, including the U.S. Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee, the International Center for Research on Women, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Dr El-Erian has published widely on international economic and finance topics, and has been named on Foreign Policy’s list of  “Top 100 Global Thinkers” for four years in a row. Dr El-Erian is also the President of Queens’ College, Cambridge.

The Economic Surplus is the Marshall Society’s own newsletter, designed to distribute the thoughts of our committee and contributors. The newsletter is open to anyone and everyone. We collect recent economics news alongside our own bespoke economic analysis to produce a weekly newsletter that we hope is useful for people both inside and outside of Cambridge.
